Chillicothe Council Reviews for New Year

Pat Patrick spent about 45 minutes giving council a briefing on several aspects of city services, especially the nuisance process.

She pointed out that the city is making a dent that issue, with twice the number of reports processed in 2013 than in 2012.

Patrick says she will post information in her 6th Ward page on the city's website, but citizens can also contact their council representative to find out what to do.

And her wish for the new year?  "No nuisances."

At the start of his first full year, Council President Eric Rinehart went over council rules and responsibilities.  There are nine permanent committees, chaired by each of the nine council members.

An additional committee may be on Strategic Planning.

Rinehart says he will try to post related information on the city's website.

And Law Director Sherri Rutherford gave a 12-item annual report for her office.  The first item had the biggest number - the number of criminal and traffic cases closed in the year, which was 3,372.

That was up about 200 from the previous year.  And Rutherford expects it to continue to increase.

The city's website is now simply <Chillicothe.com>.
