Safe Bicycle Riding Habits Could Pay Off For Local Youth

Safe bicycle riding habits could pay-off for Chillicothe youth this summer.

A program sponsored by Dairy Queen and the Columbus Blue Jackets, awards free small ice cream cones to kids that police officers see are exhibiting safe riding habits.

Chillicothe Police Officer Bud Lytle says officers who see kids doing things such as, using appropriate hand signals, riding with a helmet, riding with traffic or have reflectors on their bikes, will give them a ticket for a free ice cream cone.

A drawing is conducted at the end of the summer, which could see a local youth going to a Columbus Blue Jackets game during their season.
