The Paint Valley Bearcats are Division 4 Sectional Baseball champions for the third time in the last seven years, blanking Portsmouth Clay 10-0 in six innings Tuesday.
Bearcats pitcher Mason McCloy fired a no-hitter in the victory, fanning 9 batters while walking three.
At the plate, McCloy ended the game with a 2-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the 10-run-rule into place.
PV opened the game with 4 runs in the first, as Teagan McFadden collected an RBI triple. Mark Clifford later ripped a 2-run double and Nate Yoakum collected an RBI fielder's choice.
The Bearcats added 2 runs in the second inning- thanks to a 2-run single from Teagan McFadden for a 6-0 lead. An RBI bunt single from Anthony McFadden, and a bases loaded wild pitch upped the PV lead to 8-0 in the third. McCloy then ended the game in the sixth with his 2-run single.
Paint Valley improves to (13-14) on the season and plays either Symmes Valley at 1:30pm Saturday in the district semis at VA Memorial Stadium. Symmes Valley defeated Miller 6-4 Tuesday to advance against the Bearcats.
