The Southeastern Panthers saw their season come to a close with a 58-56 loss to the Fairland Dragons Friday night. A game where at one point the Panthers had a 35-19 lead early in the third quarter, but could not hold-off Fairland's hard charge.
The Panthers had the lead at every stop, except in the fourth quarter. Southeastern had a chance to win the game at the buzzer on a Justin Dye three point attempt that hit the rim and bounced off.
Southeastern had three players in double figures, led by Austin Hice and Tyler Cartee with 17 points a piece. Dylan Miles added 10 points in the loss.
As a team, Southeastern shot 19/43 from the field for 44%, including 5/11 from behind the arc. The Panthers were 14/18 from the charity stripe. Southeastern committed 10 turnovers in the ballgame, 7 of which came in the second half.
The Fairland Dragons were led by Chawce Short with 21 points. Nathan Campbell added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Evan Maddox chipped in 9 points for the Dragons.
As a team Fairland shot 23/46 from the field for 50%, including 5/7 from three point range for 71%. From the foul line, Fairland was 6/13 for 46%.
Southeastern closes out their season with an (18-5) record.
Fairland improves their record to (13-11) and advances to the District Finals against Wheelersburg on Sunday at 2pm.
