Piketon graduate and OSU freshman baseball standout Zach Farmer is hospitalized with what a family member confirms is leukemia.
The Ohio State University is confirming that doctors have diagnosed Farmer with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and will miss the rest of the season. Farmer had been ill for about a week, before the diagnosis.
Farmer was a three-time high school baseball All American at Piketon, along with being a stand-out basketball player. He is in his freshman season as a pitcher for the Ohio State Buckeyes, where he had several good performances before becoming ill.
Follow-up information states that a bone marrow transplant is being sought for Zach and that he will require chemo treatments during his six-week stay in the hospital.
